Phased Narrative

The build unfolded through seven tightly sequenced phases, each with specific goals and crews on site. Use the cards below to connect the photographs to the broader construction story.

Phase 1: Demolition and Site Preparation (April 30 - May 3, 2024)

The project began in late April 2024 as crews stripped away the existing turf and topsoil from the Kenmure driving range. Heavy equipment exposed the subgrade, setting the stage for precision grading and layout of the new Toptracer facility.

By early May, laser-guided grading was underway to shape the tee line pad. The base layer of gravel was compacted to exact specifications, creating a stable foundation for the concrete slab that would become the hitting platform. The range targets remained visible in the distance - a reminder of how the new technology would soon enhance a familiar practice setting.

Phase 2: Concrete Foundation and Layout Definition (May 18 - May 23, 2024)

By mid-May, the new tee line took form as the concrete pad was poured - a sleek, level platform extending across the full width of the range. Once the slab cured, surrounding soil was regraded to match the original contours, and edge shaping began to integrate the new structure into the existing landscape.

Within days, range stalls and dividers were positioned to define each bay, giving a clear preview of the facility's final layout. What had started as a rough construction site now looked unmistakably like the future of practice at Kenmure.

Phase 3: Canopy Construction and System Integration (June 4 - June 14, 2024)

Early June marked the vertical transformation of the project. White steel framing rose over the new concrete pad, forming the canopy that would shelter golfers from sun and rain. Crews completed the structural assembly, wired electrical lines, and prepared for Toptracer technology installation.

Each bay received weatherproof camera units mounted along the canopy, precision-positioned to track every ball in flight. Flat-screen displays, lighting, and furniture followed - creating a clean, modern atmosphere.

By mid-June, the installation was nearly complete. Morning light glowed across the fresh canopy and manicured fairways, framing a scene that blended technology with Kenmure's signature mountain beauty.

Phase 4: Member Integration and Social Experience (June 20, 2024)

Once operational, the range quickly became a new social focal point. Members tested the Toptracer system, hitting under the canopy as monitors displayed live ball-flight data and performance feedback.

Evening sessions brought a new dimension to the experience. Photos from twilight show members gathered beneath soft canopy lighting, enjoying drinks and conversation around lounge seating and patio tables. The once-simple range had evolved into both a training ground and a community gathering space - golf performance paired with clubhouse atmosphere.

Phase 5: Irrigation Installation and Final Grading (July 10 - July 16, 2024)

In early July, crews focused on refining the site and installing the new irrigation system that would support the freshly shaped turf areas. Trenches were excavated in front of the hitting bays for irrigation lines and control wiring, ensuring full coverage and optimal water management across the landing zone.

A Kubota track loader worked along the tee front to fine-grade the soil after backfilling the irrigation trenches. The precision of this work was crucial - it tied the new system seamlessly into the existing range layout while preparing the area for sod installation.

By mid-July, the trench lines were closed, slopes were fine-tuned, and the area surrounding the bays had reached a near-finished appearance - a blend of structural precision and agronomic detail.

Phase 6: Turf Grow-In and Restoration (August 2024)

With irrigation operational, the final landscaping began. Fresh sod was installed along the front of the range and around the hitting bays, knitting the new construction into the natural contours of the property.

During the grow-in phase, maintenance crews mowed, topdressed, and rolled the turf in crisp grid patterns to promote density and smoothness. By mid-August, the turf displayed a deep green hue and healthy uniformity - a clear sign that the new range surface had fully established.

Phase 7: Grand Completion and Operational Debut (September 2024)

By early September, Kenmure's Toptracer Range was fully complete and open for play. The final photos showcase the polished, professional finish - striped turf, gleaming white canopy, and precision-aligned hitting bays equipped with interactive monitors and comfortable seating.

Morning dew shimmered across the grass as sunlight reflected off the canopy, signaling the dawn of a new era for Kenmure's practice facilities.

The completed range stands as a model of modern golf infrastructure - combining advanced technology, thoughtful design, and the timeless beauty of the Carolina mountains. It's more than an upgrade; it's a statement of Kenmure's commitment to innovation and excellence.
